He is a god. He made The Godfather pt. 1 & 2 and Apocalypse Now. Sure, that was a long time ago, but that's all he needs for god-status.

He's a God who fell back to earth and became a mere mortal...pity he and Zootrope Studios weren't the future of American film and not Lucasfilm and Spielberg.

Even Coppola himself has stated that Godfather II is pretty bad. Still, he was a force to be reckoned with in the 70's and early 80's. He had A LOT of great actors to work with.

Godfather II is 50% 10/10 and 50% 7/10. The Michael story arc really goes south fast.

Yes, it certainly looks like Coppola ran out of steam in the end. I highly recommend the book if you haven't read it.
