SNL Spoof

Coppola went past the budget and schedule for Apocalypse Now and Saturday Night Live decided to poke a little fun at that. Guest host Martin Sheen was assigned by the studio to travel to location where it was being shot, with orders to terminate the production. Anyone else remember that show?

reply

Yes. Sheen was called into a Hollywood studio where the suits play a tape recording of Coppola talking about films not as commercial products but as art. Sheen realizes Coppola has gone insane and accepts the order to pull the plug with extreme prejudice.

I remember Bill Murray (as Coppola) being told that all the sets were to be blown up and proclaiming, "That's it! That's my ending! One of my endings!" mocking Coppola's inability to complete the movie.
