According to the MST version, just before the film rolls, "Dr. Clayton Forrester" (Trace Beaulieu) states that Jack Palance worked on this film for booze (Scotch, I believe), in lieu of pay.

Is this true, or are they just having a little fun at the audience's expense ???

Yep. They were obviously making fun of the fact that an established actor like Jack was in this poopy movie.

But he would have at least worked for scale. They were just teasing.
