3:15 AM

I'm in my late 50's. As most people my age, we often wake up in the night. What disturbs me most is that I often wake up right around 3:15 in the early morning hours. Sometimes it's 5 or 10 minutes earlier. Never later. More often than not, I wake up and it is 3:15. I find this extremely disturbing.
I somehow remember reading something about that time in the book. Didn't George wake up at that same time each night he slept in that house? I confess that I do not believe these people..... it is just that I have read other things over the years about 3:15 AM. It is suppose to be either a time for death or a time for haunting.
Has anyone heard of this? What is the origin?
I cringe when I open my eyes at 3:15. I refuse to get out of bed until 4:00 before I will go to the bathroom. YES! I hold it!
Now that you have had a good laugh, please tell me more about 3:15... ?

This is from Wikipedia on the "Amityville Horror" (regarding the book by Jay Anson):
George would wake up around 3:15 every morning and would go out to check the boathouse. Later he would learn that this was the estimated time of the DeFeo killings.

Religious significance is since Jesus died around 3pm, the hour of 3am is the devil's time.

thanks for the information.

Yes I heard that it was something to do with Jesus being put on the cross at 3,15 pm so 3,15 was the devils time a lot of films pick up on this I think it's in fourth kind as well give it a watch

I've also heard that 3 AM is referred to the witching hour, whatever that means.

The whole story George gave is quite suspect to me. The more I read about and see about it, it's no wonder many consider it a hoax.

One major goof about the murders that Kathy says she dreamed about. In the movie she sits up and screams 'She was shot in the head', referring to Mrs DeFeo. In truth, both daughters died that way, with Dawn's being more horrific in that the gun blast made her head almost explode.

The only major goof is that you bring a really extreme bias into the assessment of this story, which makes your motives and information highly suspect.

The witching hour of 3:15 am is Satan's mockery of Christ's death on the cross, which might have taken place at 3:15 pm. (Or within that time frame). The inversion of the time is like the upside down crucifix as a symbol of satanic mockery also. We see this same story line theme in 'Exorcism of Emily Rose', which is a film I recommend.

Agree with you (esp. on Emily Rose movie), but I'd like to add something. I also think the 3 o'clock reference is a way in which satan mocks the Trinity (Father, Son, & Holy Spirit).

3 A.M. is the hour of the devil in mythology, but you are probably scared from the movie and that's why you wake up at that time. I had similar experience after reading the book. In fact, my case was worse because I was withdrawing from Seroquel and was paranoid about many things, actually I read the book because I was hoping to be scared from something else and not the problem with my medications. If you are nervous night after night, you may like to check with a Doctor. There are some great medications for relaxation like Xanax.

So I'm guessing all these strange occurrences at 3:15AM (or there abouts) only happen during half the year? Unless the devil behavior also adjusts for daylight savings time...

I do, too. But that's probably because I have a 1-year old and an almost 2-month old. I'm up at various hours, but many times when I have drifted off to sleep, I find myself waking up at 3:15 AM or by the time I am up and have a chance to look at the clock, it's 3:15 AM......

Personally I often wake up at the same time in the middle of the night. Usually it may vary but it is usually around 3:30-4am.

I don't buy much into the witching hour thing. I believe in demons and believe they have freedom to walk the earth all the time. Not at a certain scheduled time or not more of them are out at a certain time.

I look at it as some type of window between the spirit world and the real world to be opened wider at night, hence that is the time that a significant number of hauntings occur according to people's reports of hauntings.

3:15 am is the opposite of when Christ was put to death at 3:15 pm in the afternoon. It is a way in which satan mocks the Trinity (Father, Son, & Holy Spirit).
