The Lutzes were jerks

They invite a priest over to bless their house then go for a boat ride when he was supposed to arrive

reply

I agree, I thought that the first time & watched it and every time since!

That seemed odd to me, especially when later on Kathy tells Father Bolen that 'they waited all day'.
Um, no they didn't.

I submitted it to IMDb Goofs a week or so back, and they accepted it.

I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
Didn't he discover America?
Penfold, shush.

"we waited all day (in a boat on the river)"

reply

The book and film are fictions.

reply

Well, it could have been the presence in the house that caused them to 'forget' about the Lutzes.

reply

Anybody notice the Father left his hat behind. When he entered the foyer,he put his hat on a hat rack or something. When he left, he left it behind. It seemed the Lutz' would've noticed it.

reply

jody hid the hat

reply

Not as bad as how the priest is treated by Anthony Montelli in II.

reply

Agreed

reply

Yeah, I really wouldn't leave the house if someone is visiting to bless it, but that's just me. Or at the very least someone should have stayed behind as a courtesy at the very least.

reply

Evidently the entity in the house influenced the Lutzes to forget about the priest's visit and take a boat ride on a whim apparently because it didn't want the minister to interfere with what it had planned for the new residents, plus it wanted to have fun scaring the hades out of the holy man.
