Filming

I was one of the extras in this film. I was a police constable and we spent a whole day shooting the scenes where the police are searching the moors for Agatha.

It was great fun, and I got to chat with Timothy West and Paul Brooke.

And was paid the princely sum of 8 pounds!

But think of the residuals :D

What do you mean extras don't get residuals!

can you remember the date/year you were actually filming??

reply

It was early December 1976. I was just at the end of the first term of my second year at Bath university.

If you were filming in 1976 the film must have sat on the shelf for a long time to get a 1979 release.

According to a recent introduction by Ben Mankiewicz on TCM:

The production ran over budget and over schedule, and eventually, the project was taken out of Dustin Hoffman's control. There were lawsuits and delays in post-production. Eventually, director Michael Apted managed to calm the waters enough to convince Hoffman to complete the picture.

So can you spot yourself in this film, and if so, where?

reply

In the scene where the polise search is breaking up for the night, I'm one of the policemen looking at the items on the table lol. My 5 seconds of fame!

reply

Thanks for the reply! I guess five seconds isn't quite 15 minutes of fame, but we takes what we gets.
