Timothy Dalton

He doesn't play a very sympathetic character but Timothy Dalton's the best thing going for this movie. He looks great in this; so sexy! It was interesting to learn that he and Vanessa Redgrave were in the midst of a long-term affair when this movie was made.

They play husband and wife but there's no romance between them. In fact, they only have a few scenes together and are at odds each time. I would have never imagined those two together but that just goes to show how much I know.

Had he and Dustin switched roles it might have been a more interesting movie. This is yet another example of a big name getting a role simply on the basis of their status and not suitability for the role. No offense to Dustin but I think he was all wrong for the part he played. That was just one of the many problems with the movie.

Woman, man! That's the way it should be Tarzan. [Tarzan and his mate]

He wants a divorce, thus "there's no romance between them."
I thought Hoffman played the part wonderfully, especially since was cast against type.

I know nothing about the private lives of the stars, but I do know that Vanessa Redgrave and Timothy Dalton have appeared together on screen as husband and wife before in Mary, Queen of Scots (1971), she in the title role, he as Henry Lord Danley. Not what you'd call a happy marriage either. They have plenty of screen time together in that film.

he's a very good actor, but totally unsuited to the role of Archie christie. vanessa Redgrave not suitable to play Agatha Christie either. and the plot is absurdly far fetched.
