Bo Derek objectified herself

I recently noticed an article stating that Bo Derek felt like she had objectified herself in 10. It's as if she thinks what she did in that movie was shameful in some way. She played a sexually liberated woman who was too much for Dudley Moore. I thought it was wonderful.

Do you guys think Bo has anything to be ashamed of in this film??

Sexually liberated woman? Haha. That's a nice wording for clueless cheating slut.

But if she was a guy, you would consider him to be a super stud. 

Bo Derek had nothing to be ashamed of for her role in this or any other sexually liberated character she portrayed during her career.

No, I wouldn't. I would consider him a scumbag. Anyone who cheats on their wife or husband is a scumbag. Anyone who goes around sleeping with random people for fun is a scumbag. But go ahead and keep spewing that tired "double standard" rhetoric.

Well it is nice to see someone who applies the same standard to both sexes. Few people do. Personally I think that a couple should live their life together in whatever way works best for them. In this case, they basically had an open relationship. It that was their choice, there was nothing wrong with that. As for single people, they should live their lives as they see fit and ignore what other think of them. Sleep around or not, it is their choice. Their only responsibility to others is to ensure they use proper protection against disease and unwanted pregnancy. One Bristol Palin is enough.

Sure, I agree. You are free to live your life as you choose. Just don't act so surprised when others criticize and mock you for it. In this day and age everyone thinks they have a "Get Out of Judgement Free" card. You make your choices and then you deal with the consequences. That's how life works. If you don't like the sound of that then you're free to make more acceptable choices in your life instead of spreading your legs for different men every weekend.

Also I had no idea about the open relationship thing I had just assumed she was cheating on him. Did they make that clear or was I just not paying attention?

reply

I think it was implied quite clearly when her husband called when they were in bed together and she did not attempt to hide anything and even passed the phone to Dudley so that he could speak with him. I cannot imagine her getting married to someone who was not aware of her character.

As for knocking people for their choices, I do it all the time. I knock and mock everyone who believes that a book of fables they build their lives around was actually the word of some invisible all powerful deity. I for one, believe that consenting adults should be able to live their lives as they wish as long as they are not hurting anyone else or having a detrimental effect on anyone else's lives.

Maybe she is merely becoming more conservative as she grows older. People do that. Sometimes men do that also. Mark Wahlberg actually turned down the chance to do a sequel to "Boogie Nights", as he was apparently becoming more religious.

The whole notion of some middle-aged guy hunting down a young woman he saw for a few seconds on her wedding day is actually creepy to me now.

We would call it stalking today. I didn't see a thing wrong with it when I first saw the movie, now it's dated and even offensive at times.

reply

Please! She's John Derek's trick. That's it. He's her pimp, she is sent out to spread her legs for the camera. Very simple.

reply

That's about it. No talent, no personality, just a blonde with tits.
