Star Blazers is so much better in it's untainted Japanese format, Uchu senkan Yamato. Better music, more complete scenes, and serious voices rather than silly cartoonish voices. Anyone else agree? I find it a totally different experience watching the original version..and the violence and sexual innuendos is sorely missing from this American sanitized version..

shareActually, there are a few brief glimpses of nudity in the Japanese version. Also the crew's robot companion is a pervert who likes to lift up Nova's skirt from time to time to see her panties. And the crew doctor is always getting drunk on rice wine and saki. The music is completely different and the voices are great, especially that of the evil Lord Desler. And they don't shy away from letting the viewer know that people are dying. It really is a different experience.

I agree, the Japanese version is better — mainly because of superior voice acting.
