Any News On Future Region 1 DVD Releases?

I was addicted to this program when my family just got cable, and it was on A&E here in the US.

Around that time, it was like a mystery block, that showed "Shoestring", "Lovejoy" (also wonderful) and "The Great Detective" (again superb).

But I have yet to see them show re-runs, or to release any of them for Region 1 on DVD boxed sets. If anyone knows anything..pretty, pretty please let me know.

The proposed Region 2 releases were pulled a couple of years back - apparently the cost of securing the music rights for the songs you can often hear playing in the background (it was set at a radio station after all) were too steep. It looks as if this fine programme will never be released because of this which is a real shame.

AndyG, Well any news is better late than never.

If it's a matter of music rights. I know in the US we had a program called "WKRP In Cinncinatti" which was also at a radio station. I know they ran into the same trouble because they couldn't get releases for a lot of the original songs, so when Season 1 finally came out on boxed set for Region 1, they just edited different songs they could afford/get permission for into the soundtrack.

Hopefully they'll be able to do that with "Shoestring"...which, I didn't recall being set at a radio station..it's been that long since I've seen it. I just remember Trevor Eve in his car. Then again, I was very young, he was one of my first huge crushes, so I remember obscure things about Trevor Eve..even the time he was in a program that aired in the states called 'Shadowchasers', which was a bizzare sort of science fiction/supernatural/maybe horror program.
