Excellent news for Canadian fans of the show. it is being shown on Tuesdays at noon and repeated at 6:30 PM on BRAVO.

Thanks for the news. I really loved this show back in the 80's. This was one of the most entertaining CBC series ever.

It's also about to start getting shown on Prime. I work for a closed captioning company, and have been working on this all week. I'm too young to remember it, but my god, have I fallen in love with this show this week!

Anyway, thought everyone might want to know.

When's it starting or when can I find out? I wonder if that means it won't be on Bravo.

reply

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find out any of that information yet. I really need to find out, though, 'cause my fiance's from the States and so didn't see it when he was younger, either. And he must. I have decided!

I'm seriously addicted to this show, now. Me and the other girls at work can't stop singing the theme song. And I'm really lucky, 'cause I've been the one in charge of working on every episode. (Sadly, next week I start on Danger Bay. Hate those kids).

Anyway, if I find anything else out, I'll be sure to let you know :)

Thanks :)

I was too young - and not very interested in TV - to appreciate either Seeing Things or Danger Bay. I can only really remember what the Danger Bay stars look like and that it's a cheesy 80's show. Seeing Things holds up really well though. The reruns on Showcase in the late 90's made me fall in love with it. Great theme song...it grows on you quickly.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you - When I first found the show on my schedule, I had to look it up on IMDb and TV Tome. My reaction? "Great. Canadian cult show from the early 80's. Woo. Hoo." Since then? Totally addicted. Don't even remember it on Showcase, although I have a vague recollection of the title sequence, which is odd.

Theme song is compeletley addictive. All I need to do is open the file and see the first lyrics in the song to have it in my head all day.

Dreams are for the nightime,
Days are wide awake.
Visions are for crazy people,
Not me, for goodness sake.
But I'm seeing things!
I'm seeing things!

Sorry. Moment.

Anyway, found out today from the girl at Prime that they're not showing it - It's for the Mystery channel. Which is highly unfair, 'cause I have basic cable. Which means I listen to the show day in and day out and may never get to actually SEE it. Sympathize with me!! ;)

BTW, this is a little random, but this is my boyfriend's account (Banky 77) but he also uses Cosmo quite a lot. You must be kindered, or something ;)

reply

Oh no - I only get basic cable :( I'm taping the episodes from Bravo but I think they cut off a few minutes (the first episodes I taped are 51 minutes but the latest are 47 minutes long).

'cosmo' is one of my oldest names...It's not from Seinfeld or from 'Cosmopolitan' magazine; it's from an obscure line in a Darkwing Duck cartoon:

Darkwing: "Now, where to begin?"
Gosalyn: "How 'bout the power company, cosmo."
-Just Us Justice Ducks

I am trying to find a vhs tape or cd for Seeing Things. Do you have any idea where I could find some? I am trying to get a birthday gift for my husband.

reply

I used to watch this show as a kid and loved it. I still remember the theme song... "I'm seeing things, believe me, that you've never seen before. But certain things..." uh, I forget what comes after that.

Regardless, I would love to see this show again... but I don't have cable and I don't live in Canada. So if anyone ever happens across this show on VHS, or, even better but doubtful- DVD, please post it on this board.

Many thanks.

The second verse goes :

I'm seeing things, believe me
I've never seen before
But little things decieve me
Like when you threw me out the door (accompanied by a shot of Louie and Marge sticking their tongues out at each other)
I couldn't believe my eyes!
Ba-da-da-doo etc.

One thing I really loved (and I appreciate it even more now) was the way Louie and Marge played off on each other!! A good example is this exchange from an episode about models

Louie: I mean, he yelled at his wife!
Marge: Louie, if that was a crime you and I would be doing life in maximum security!

Louis del Grande and Martha Gibson are married in real life, so maybe that's why they were able to play the parts so well.

Watching a bit of seeing things on Bravo,it only confirms that Canadian shows suck ,i'll put it up there with other pieces of "Canadian crap TV" like Rocket Robin hood and the beachcombers ..*sigh* .

I would put the first three seasons or so of Seeing Things up against anything on television at that time. It was as good as anything on TV in the early 1980s.
