I was wondering if they ever use the rocket again that was used to go to the moon in the pilot. Does it ever turn up as a story element in any of the episodes for the rest of the series? I guess what I'm asking is, wasn't the whole series based on space junk retrieval?
They use the Vulture a few more times, but only once more to retrieve junk from space (an orbiting satellite) while rescuing Skip and some astronauts from a damaged space station. They never go back to the moon, though. They do use it to help a stranded alien return home by going into space and amping up a space beam.
They also use it for transportation to land on an island with a strange monkey and to go to Africa to rescue the FBI agent. Various pieces of the vehicle were used during other episodes when they needed to accomplish something, such as Hard Water at the beginning of the second season. Oddly, they never use it again during the second season, although the prop was still there in the background.
But as I remember, the series only featured space junk retrieval during the pilot and the satellite/rescue episode.
Thanks for the reply, and yes, it does help. From what I've already heard about this show, and your post, I'll definitely track down this show so I can watch it!
You should definetely do that as there are a number of places you can get a set, including iOffer.com. Be advised, though, that most sets are of low (but watchable) quality due to the lack of decent source elements.
I hadn't seen it since I watched a handful of episodes when I was a kid and was surprised how much I enjoyed it as an adult. It's just a shame the series didn't last longer.
I still remember the original pilot where Andy Griffith when Richard Jaeckel was screaming about the all laws they've broken and joked about being charged with leaving the country without a passport.
