Funny scene during Mr. Collins' proposal to Charlotte

When Mr. Collins is proposing to Charlotte Lucas, the camera cuts to a scene of a bee pollenating a flower. This reminds me of how someitmes other movies do this when a couple is in the throes of passion, and then cut back to the coupole in a post-coital scene! It just seemed out of place here.

I never thought of that - now I'll laugh my head off every time I see it! ::-)

Actually I thought Charlotte was one of the prettiest of the female cast and she was very feminine although practical and down to earth. The flowers reminded me of her. Neverthelss, I thought Mary Bennett with her endless reading of sermons and her faux intellectualism, as well as her admiring glances at Mr. Collins would have been well matched with him.
Malcom Rennie's portrayal of Mr. Collins is a hoot. He reminds me of a grasshopper.

This is hands-down my favorite Mr. Collins.

Yes, I like Irene Richard in this and in the older Sense and Sensibility. Rennie is definitely my favorite Mr Collins.

Agreed. Malcolm Rennie makes Collins ridiculous (which he certainly is in the book) rather than oily and creepy (which he certainly is not in the book).

Have you seen Hubbel Palmer as Collins in the Mormon version of P&P that came out in 2003? He's very, very good also.

I particularly liked the scene where he danced with Elizabeth. He did an amazing turn which was supposed to make us think that he was over-enthusiastic and ungainly but he did it so well! I enjoyed him.
