This is a joy!

I don't know why it's taken me so long to watch this in full (and not YT snippets), but I have to say I love it! It's showing now on UK television, the first I've time I've seen it televised here in decades (although it's possible I've missed it).

Elizabeth Garvie is an absolute delight as Lizzy. A tie with Greer Garson as my favourite. David Rintoul walks about like he's got a poker up his bum (), so Colin Firth remains my preferred Darcy, but, still, he's not bad. Other characterisations are excellent. Production values aren't as good as later versions, but it's not as static and studio-bound as I once thought. I don't like the way they handled Darcy's letter, though. I still prefer the "show - don't tell" policy that 1995 used (albeit rather clumsily).

Last episode tonight. Can't wait!

It is my favourite version. I actually think david Rintoul is just right as darcy - he is supposed to be like that. Elizabeth garvie i thought was perfect as elizabeth. The rest of the cast all excellent.
