hi mikepell, I have this animated series on dvd and have watched them all. Your questions are organised and in order. (*Remember this is *only* about the *animated* '79 series, the live-action serials and the comics from the '30's may be different.* Also remember there were only 2 seasons of animated Flash Gordon.)

1) What becomes of Flash, Dale and Zarkov do they ever get back to earth ?

No. They are stuck on Mongo and help Prince Barin, who at the end of season one is now the new Emperor of Mongo.

2) Do Flash and Dale ever marry?

No. However, Barin and Aura do marry in season two.

3) What about Ming does he ever return to power?

No. He tries though.

4) Is Ming immortal as he claims to be ?

Good question. Don't know.

5) Does Ming abide his time and wait until the heroes of mongo are to old and frail and helpless?

No. In second season, Ming goes in hiding and proceeds to create various plots which Flash (with help) always foils.

Hope that's what you're looking for.

In the comic strip, Flash, Dale and Zarkov return to Earth, after unseating Ming and placing Barin and Aura in power on Mongo. They find themselves caught up in an alternate version of WW 2, where Flash helps defeat the Nazi analogue and is decorated. This was the end of the Alex Raymond strips. The trio then returns to Mongo. In later years, Flash would traverse the spaceways, but would occassionally go back to Mongo. Ming regained his throne, at some point. When Gold Key had the comic book rights, they had Ming return to power, but there was a wary truce between the kingdoms. Barin and Aura have a son (who was an infant in the Raymond strips) who is a pre-teen.
