Journey to the West - which version?

Which translation of Journey to the West should I read? I see at least 4 different versions on amazon.co.uk.

Does anyone have a recommendation?

hey. long time after your question and i'm certainly no expert, but if i were you i'd check out Journey To West's wiki page. (am i allowed to post links?)They have tons of info on the many varied and wonderful Chinese & Japanese TV versions of Journey to the West. My current fave is the 90's Chinese version which the team at Sun Wukong Fansubs is working hard to subtitled in English. There are at least 4 others to choose from though as well as loads of film versions.

As for text versions - there's a link to a free pdf version on the wiki page. I got the 3 book set of that and loved it but i haven't read any others to compare it to. tbh it's the 1st thousand year old Chinese\Buddhist epic novel i've read. i'll be having a bit of a rest before i start the Outlaws Of the Marshes books that The Water Margin tv series was based on.

Anthony C. Yu's version is the most complete and accurate translation, from what I know.
