The UK shows were cut?

The episodes were trimmed from 54 minutes to 40 minutes.
So that means that, of the 39 dubbed episodes, over nine hours of monkey footage was cut! share
I am wondering if the statement may be a mistake. A 54 minute program would run for about 40 minutes on the BBC because there are no commercial breaks.
