Was Terry Signing On?

Always wondered how much Terry was earning while on wages from Arthur.

He roughly made an extra £100-200 a week from earners plus possible commission from car sales.

As for the cost of living, the Capri was his own property which he acquired from Arthur in the opening credits but the flat was Arthurs. So got me thinking, did Arthur put him up in the flat so that Terry could claim housing benefit while on the dole as Arthur is hardly the charitable type and must have paid him cash in hand.

Terry was part of the black economy

If he was on £100-200 by early 1980 standards (while living rent free, with a free car and back handers for other jobs away from Arthur, as well as working cash in hand) is really good (my dad always telling me what he was earning in the late 70's and early 80's per week, and I was probably making more part time per week while at University in the 00's).

He wasn't signing on. In one episode in series 2 or 3 he says working as a minder/bouncer beats signing on.
