It ran for years in the UK when I was a kid and I always watched it. The dog was adorable and that theme song was a major ear worm.

Haha yeah... it was a school holiday TV staple in the ‘80s, along with Champion the Wonder Horse and other old shows.

It also ran in the U.S. in the 1960s. The TV series was actually based on this American film from 1958:

The film came first, in 1958. The TV series was produced in the 1960s and rebooted in 1979.

I loved watching the 1979-1985 version of the show when I was growing up. Reruns still air on and off.
