The dog jumped from a flipping plane?!?

The parachute scene from the first episode and opening credts: I assumed that it was "fake" (i.e., it involved a "dummy" being pushed from the plane)...

But The Littlest Hobo wikipedia entry claims it was real (although no citation is given).

Does anyone know if real or fake?

If real: Holy Crap! Was there no Humane Society back then? I'm surprised London didn't have a heart attack

The scene that Wikipedia refers to was in the original 1963-65 series, not this one. Therefore, it was most likely a dummy or camera effects used in the 1979 premiere episode of this series.

It wouldn't surprise me if they did do it for real. There was an early episode of MacGyver in which a helicopter hooks a galloping horse by the saddle and flies it at least a hundred feet into the air. That was clearly done for real and I was really disappointed by the show for doing such a horrible thing to a horse. If both shows had been made in America, the chances are they would NOT have gotten away with it.
