Why does 'London' get credited when there were 7?

I seem to remember reading in Owl Magazine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Owl_Magazine) that there were 7 dogs playing the Hobo. So why was it always "staring London"?

But you know what? I see in the short-lived 1963 series "London the Dog" is credited there, too. Dogs can live that long, but it's a bit of a stretch. I guess that "London" is some kind of virtual actor who gets credit for whoever plays the Hobe.

Maybe all the dogs were named "London". Would certainly make it less confusing for the dog's handlers. I never understood the dog's name though, since it was a German Shepherd you'd think it would have been called "Berlin" instead. I guess they couldn't call it Frankfurt though because then it would have been a hot dog.

I'm thinking there were some scenes his owner didn't want him doing, or London couldn't do. So they used other dogs. London was the main dog.
