Thank god For the states Blessing us with Cable cause Man if uve ever seen Canadian Tv or seen a Impersination of it like on Mad TV or SNL(Saturday Nite Live) I can tell u its pretty Close to the actual thing. So be happy u dont have to get it down there lol. But if ur wanting to come visit canada Dont be scared away by whut ive said Dont worry We Do get American TV Heck most of our Channels come from the USA maybe 5-10 our really canadian and maybe 1 or 2 show real stupid canadian shows so dont worry u are safe!:)

And let's not forget Da Vinci's Inquest! Great acting, writing, stories and best of all, it's based on a real person! Plus it was just purcahsed to run on american tv stations! Must be great if they bought it!

reply

Umm... Just about a million great movies come out of Canada. As for shows, I think that Robson Arms was one of the coolest shows I've ever seen. Also, The Littlest Hobo is classic - you can't mess with that. Can't forget Royal Canadian Air Farce and This Hour Has 22 Minutes and Just For Laughs (and all shows under the name). They're genius.

reply

Recently, Corner Gas paid tribute to the "Littlest Hobo". They even played the Littlest Hobo's theme song at the end. Awesome show. :)

reply

there was also an episode of "Trailer Park Boys" where Ricky was watching the littlest hobo on a TV in his car.

reply

Yes, a "Robson Arm" was what I got after watching Gabrielle Miller too much.

reply

Also the Red Green Show, which has a large American following.

The Hour (George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight)
Corner Gas
Trailer Park Boys
SCTV
Republic of Doyle
Being Erica
DaVinci's Inquest
Degrassi
Mr. Dressup
Babar
You Can't Do That on Television
Bob and Margaret
Clone High
The Friendly Giant
The Guard
Kids in the Hall
ReBoot
Redwall
Street Cents
Theodore Tugboat
Under the Umbrella Tree
Camp Cariboo

Not to mention one of the greatest things ever to be shown on television: Heritage Minutes (I learned more about Canadian history from these than from all the history classes I have ever taken in school combined).

We don't do much TV, and some stuff is admittedly low budget (the Littlest Hobo, Twice in a Lifetime), but for the most part what we do produce is intelligent and unique programing. Many series have been ground breaking in their genera.

reply

All of those shows are garbage except for You Can't Do That On Television, Camp Cariboo and Twice in a Lifetime.

reply

theh shows that i like in hte past couple years are....

little mosque on the prairie.
18 to life
insecurity
she's the mayor
republic of doyle

there are so many great canadian shows out there..and many more to come...to say that we've only done two in the past 60 years of all of tv..is ludicrous.

there was kind of kensington
beachcombers

all kinds of great canadian shows...

susan

and i was saddened to see twice of a lifetime go......

reply

Trailer Park Boys is garbage? Yeah, alrighty then.

If you love Jesus Lizard and are 100% proud of it, copy this and make it your signature!

reply

not 2 mension u cant type lol

reply

What about cold squad, that was alright.

Republicans dont watch stand up, theyre busy watching cartoons, trying to see who's gay.

reply

Yes I Agree most Canadian shows suck. This one I grew up watching so I loved it as a kid. ( I was born in 79) Wasnt Due South also a Canadian show? THAT one I loved.

Mina
Build me a bridge and GET OVER IT!

reply

I like Cold Squad as well, it's a good Canadian show.

The Littlest Hobo is great, sucks that it's only on once a week, but at least it's still on the air.

reply

God, I remember this show when I was a kid, Littlest Hobo. I used to watch it every afternoon after Degrassi Junior High (It must've been the Canadian hour on TV). But it hasn't been on since the 80's.

reply

The littlest hobo was t.v gold london the dog brilliant im getting emotional just thinking back 80s t.v kicks ass also the A team and He man

reply

*beep* You!! Canadian TV Kicks ASS!!! I think it seems more real than others.... like the U.S.... they're pumping so much crap tv out I can't even watch it anymore.

reply

so true! Degrassi series, Blue Murder, Cold Squad, DaVinci Inquest, E.N.G., The City, Corner Gas, Material World, Katts and Dog, My Secret Identity, This Is Wonderland, Code Name: Eternity, Godivas, CounterStrike (Co-canadian), Nikita, Trailer Park Boys, Due South, North of 60, Black Harbour, Road to Avonlea, Mosquito Lake, Red Green, Air Farce, Taking the Falls, Street Legal, Robson Arms, "Side Effects, Once a Theif, Forever Knight, Street Justice...

reply

Most of those shows are garbage, except for Katts and Dog, My Secret Identity, and Forever Knight.

reply

How the hell old is the orginal poster?

"...Feel my aura."
"I don't think I'm allowed to."

reply

Dude! We gave you Katts and Dog!

reply

I loved Katts and Dog! I forgot about that show. I used to watch it when i was a kid.

You can't spell "Saturday" and you think you're TV critic? Yeah, I got "some sorta laugh outa" that, all right. Little could I have anticipated there were more laughs yet to come: "about as best as it gets"? If you're over 7 and not retarded you should be embarrassed; just don't try spelling embarrassed or I may have a coronary. "Our" for "are"? I am really in serious danger of a stroke.

I nominate this for most illiterate post on IMDB, and that's saying something.

Dude, you are my new hero.

We aim to please.

SCTV was one of the greatest comedy shows to come out of any country. There have been mediocre Canadian TV but SCTV, and Kids in the Hall, deserve to be remembered as real gems in the TV wasteland.

And Heather, your spelling is atrocious. A little more time in school and a little less in front of the television would serve you well.

"Whoever sold you those suits had a wonderful sense of humour."

reply

"If you're over 7 and not retarded you should be embarrassed;"

ROF Pissing Myself Laughing!

Don't forget Kevin Spencer, either.

reply

Heather, the OP on this thread, is obviously no more than an 11yr old tweenie, and seems to be waiting patiently for a new series out of the US starring Britney Spears and what's 'is name (her husband, the ex, whatever...)

Now THAT would be a show about dogs, though I'd still prefer to see real canines who, unlike them, can actually act.

reply

Kids in the Hall is so wierd that it's funny. You never see the jokes coming, because they're so odd and outrageous.

reply

What about:

You can't do that on Television
Hilarious house of Frightenstien
North of 60
New Waterford Girl
Mombo Italiano

Everyone of them is a gem. Have some pride OP.

Vaginas are way cool!

reply

Check it out guys! Amazing!

You can't get much funnier than Kids in the Hall or Trailer Park Boys. And as for some oldies, how about Beachcombers or Danger Bay? Now that's classic TV. But getting back to the OT, of course Littlest Hobo is cheesy, but keep in mind it's circa 1979, almost 30 years ago (yikes, I'm old!!).American shows from that period are just as cheesy if not more so. I love that dog and I'll keep watching as long as they keep showing the reruns!

reply

shows from the 70's..cheesy...boy you sure can say that again....the biggest one of them all that comes to my mind was the original battlestar galactica.....i guess when they were on i didn't think of them as cheesy..but now i do....

boy are we showing our age or what..

i bet in 10 years time..people are going to say the same thing about shows from the 90's.....or shows from the last decade..the first of the 21st century...lol
