Judi Farr/ted's wife

I have been watching some of the kingswood country episodes on the foxtel marathon. It is such a funny show. I noticed that Judi farr left the show in 82 and sheila kennelly who played rosa, Bruno's mother, began living with them. Does anyone know why Judi farr left, and how they explained her absence. And what was the reason for Rosa moving in, other than to fill in the void left by Judi Farr.

In the 80's I only caught a few of the shows back then

reply

ha thats why i've come on here to find out, they did say thelma went to europe in the show, the commercial foxtel did with the national anthem was very well done

g'day,

watched parts of the foxtel kingswood country( one of me fave shows ever) marathon was a ripper.watch it all the time on fox classics.

Don't know why Judi Farr left, but her absence in the show was explained that she went on an around the world trip. And Rosa moved in to look after Ted till she got back.

Does anyone know how they explained the absence of Thel\rosa\craig\greta\bruno\bob\merle in Bulpitt the follow up series to kingswood country, and how ted ended up in a nursing home?

reply

bazza, thanks for answering my question but unfortunately i cant answer yours :(

reply

They referenced the characters from years earlier, but did not really say what had happened to them.

The puzzling thing about Bullpit was that Ted had a grandaughter (I think her name was Samantha) who went to University, and was Bruno & Greta's daughter.

In Kingswood Country, however, there was never any mention of Bruno and Greta having any kids, and she was too old to have been born after Kingswood Country ended.

reply

That was continuity problems I'd say. His granddaughter's name was Terri. It was a retirement village that he was living in. Not a nursing home. Ted had just retired and moved there.

reply

Judi Farr and Lex Marinos (Bruno) both eventually left the show as they felt they were repeating themselves.

reply

I remember on "Bullpitt!", whenever Craig was referred to, Ted used always replied "I don't want talk about it", or "Its best not to talk about it".

What was that all about?

reply

I always got the impression that Craig turned out to be gay.

He was a ladies man in Kingswood Country but in Bullpitt! it was implied that he went the other way.

reply

Well my thought was that it'd turned out that Craig was either gay or he'd ended up in the loony bin. With a father like Ted either way wouldn't be surprising. And yes he was indeed a lady's man in KC

'Craig' has been too busy doing shampoo commercials and other bathroom products ;)

reply

does anyone know if they mention what happened to Rosa in Bullpitt? I know they mention Thel divorced Ted, but haven't heard what happened to Rosa.

reply

i dont know if rosa was ever mentioned in bullpitt, i could be wrong tho.

reply

Not that I can recall.

reply

Wasn't Rosa Bruno's mother?

reply

Judy Farr was very popular in film, TV and stage circles. Perhaps she was starting to feel typecast as Thelma.

reply

Answer: She felt the role was getting repetetive as did Lex Marinos which accounts for both leaving the show. She was on holiday in her absence on the show. Can't remember if Bruno had one, but he came back from time to time in the later episodes.

reply

There was an episode of Bullpit where he says Thelma ran off with some Greasy Italian wog. The grandaughter gets a letter from her from Italy, and Ted ends up calling Thelma to ask her how the washing machine works or something, and she must say something crude back because Ted is shocked at her reply.

That episode is on the DVD's somewhere.

I don't recall anyone else mentioned on that show, but there was another episode where that old actress chick says something about marridge and Ted says, "Nope, I was married once, never doing that again"
