Where Are They Now?

Does anybody have ideas as to where the cast members are now?
If anybody can fill in the blanks as it were. Much appreciated

reply

Well i don't know about the rest of the cast, but the actress who played Greta is my auntie and she lives in Sydney.

reply

It's funny, for some reason I always thought Greta was played by Gretel Killeen. Perhaps it was because of the similarity of Greta/Gretel/Laurel and scottishness of both Gretel's & Laurel's surname and vague physical resemblance. I was quite surprised to look it up after 20 years and find how much my mind was playing tricks on me.

Was she also in the Men AT Work - Down Under Video as the gypsy? If not it looks like her

Lex marinos AKA bruno "the Bl**dy wog" is co-hosting the show Strictly dancing on the ABC

reply

And he is also part of the Brains Trust at times on Einstein Factor.Ross Higgins (Ted) was actually the guy who did the voices in the Rice Bubbles commercials YEARS ago....

reply

He's also hosting Late Night Legends on ABC 2

I met ross higgins when i was working at an advertising agency in the early 80's. He did voice overs for commercials. he was a really nice man with a lovely speaking voice. Not anything like ted bullpit. He was also very tall. I would luv to know what he's doing these days.

reply

My mom thought it was Gretal Killein too! I told her it wasn't but she didn't believe me til I looked up IMDB.

reply

Well I've hear that Ross Higgins is semi-retired now. But I sware it's his voice in the Mortein ads (Doing Louis The Fly)

reply

I saw the legend Ross Higgins at a service station in Lane Cove about a year ago. He looked quite frail but I guess most of us will at some stage!

My brother interviewed Lex Marinos (Bruno) a month or so ago in Burnie, Tasmania. Lex is acting in a play at the moment and touring Tassie.

Lex said he lives in Sydney (don't know which suburb) and Judy Farr (Thelma) and Maggie Dence (Merle) live nearby.

Greta went to London and lived there for a decade or so, doing theatre I think.

My brother was a very happy man, chatted w/ Lex for 30 minutes mainly about Kingswood Country, and got one of his box sets autographed.

Lex said the great man Ross Higgins (Teddles) isn't very well these days.

reply

Speaking of Where are they now. The cast were on the TV show of the same name tonight. Anybody else see it?

reply

Lex is also currently teaching a Theatre class at TAFE, I'm one of his students, thought I'd check out the show for a laugh!

He teaches the History module, very interesting guy, funny too!

His wife is the course director, and teaches the Acting Module

reply

Ross Higgins will be 80 next year. Colin McEwan, who played Ted's brother Bob, died in 2005.

reply

Ross was born in June 1931, so he is over 80 now.

reply

I don't know about Louie The Fly, but Ross Higgins did a lot of TV advertising, notably being the voice of Mr Sheen. He also sings and whistles, and it is his whistling that provides the melody of the theme music to Kingswood Country.

reply

According to Ross Higgins' IMDb Page, he was the voice of louie the fly on the mortein ads.

reply

Unfortunately I missed the reunion special the other week, but I'd have loved to have seen it. How was it? Seeing all the original cast reunited would've been awesome.

reply

it's on YouTube

On YouTube there is a segment of Where Are They Now Australia? from 2007, which may answer some of your questions. Its address is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjYfYeGGpJU

Lex Marinos was my comedy and theatre history teacher in an acting course I did at TAFE. His wife was running the course.

Like Killian Jones, I believe in good form. But like Capt Hook, I also believe in having fun.
