This was an insult to the never seen Mrs. Columbo in the Columbo series!

I am a huge Columbo fan. Although this in no way is compatible with that show, I think Kate Mulgrew's engaging acting makes this fun to watch as a separate piece of entertainment. The scripts are kind of thin, though.

This show may have been enjoyable to me if they didn't originally try to tether it to Columbo. Although a fine actress, Kate Mulgrew was miscast as Columbo's wife, IMO.

It was clearly just a way to grab an initial audience to a fairly run of the mill show. Crime shows like this were common at the time and tended to go for some sort of hook (e.g. setting Magnum in Hawaii or Vega$)
