release on DVD
Does anyone know if this has been released on DVD? I remember watching it as a kid and would love for my kids to be able to watch it now.

shareit is being released in the uk approx march 2007. i have just been to canada to interview ian tracey , sammy snyders, blu mankuma and alex diakun along with the shows producer tom wagner in germany. the set will be 4 discs with an approx 40 min making of documentary
shareThat's really exciting news !!! I haven't seen any of this since the 1990 ITV re-run. Get me in that DVD queue !!!! Yah-hey !! This is just "bully" !
shareWow thats cool news ive just brought tom sawyer and huckleberry finn and friends of ebay all 26 episodes taped off the hallmark channel and put on disc while it was so nice to see the adventures again the quality was a let down,Does anyone know how much the re-released double dvd will cost its sounds really good ps been looking for this dvd for ages
shareThe full price is £39.99 and the pre-order price is £29.99. However, when I put in an order, it was only £25 or so. With shipping and handling, it came out to about £28.
Considering that it's a series of 22 episodes, that's quite a decent price.
Keep in mind that the DVD is Region 2, so you'll need a multiregion VCR to read it.

Where did you place the order?
shareAmazon.co.uk. The link is here:

The release date is January 22. It was supposed to be March, but they must have got the intended interviews of Ian Tracey and Sammy Snyder early. I believe they also got hold of Alex Diakun and Blu Mankuma. Obviously, this means there will be some extras in the set.
I haven't ever seen the show and I've only recently (as of a few years ago from watching Da Vinci's Inquest) become interested in Ian Tracey's work. However, I've been rereading the books and especially enjoying The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. And the show sounds about as perfectly cast as you could hope for. So, I'm looking forward to it and keeping my fingers crossed that it will be decent quality.

Many thanks!
shareI wonder why Amazon have it listed as "The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn" instead of the propper title "Huckleberry Finn and His Friends"?
shareI have just received the DVD box set from Amazon.co.uk and it is truly excellent. 4 DVD's, nice plastic box, nice covers and 12 page colour booklet listing the episodes in detail.
Also enjoyed the 'making of' documentary which has interviews with Sammy Snyders, Ian Tracey, Blu Mankuma, etc.
I have waited a long time for an official DVD release of this series as I am sure many other fans have around the world.
Fabulous Films have done a fine job. A bare bones release would have been great, but this is amazing. Definately a box set to treasure.

Hopefully Amazon.co.uk will list it as 'Huckleberry Finn And His Friends' soon since that is what the DVD cover actually says and most US, Australian and UK fans remember it as.
I also ordered it as soon as it was out on DVD, and still loved the series. Purely incidentally, this spring I read both books from Mark Twain, and when I got back home I checked bol.com and there it was: the announcement of the release of the DVD box. Here in The Netherlands they sell it as "The adventures of Huckleberry", I also don't understand why they just don't sell it as "Huckleberry Finn and his friends". I liked "the making of", nice to see the actors so much older. Especially Sammy Snyders looked quite different, and Ian also without having shaved for more than a week. ;-)
shareI'm surprised that they didn't release a Region 1 version. After all it takes place in US. What the heck?
Whooooo... Thats fantastic news. if ever there was a series that needed a DVD release, this is it. This series is the definitive version of Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer. A thousand times better than any movie version.
I will be placing my order as soon as it is possible to do so.

Is it still available? will it work in the UK?
shareThe release date appears to have been moved up, which I think is why it's currently listed as unavailable. And yes, it's supposed to work in the UK as it will be region 2.

OMG, I just can't wait. I remember watching the series here in Norway, and - like all you other guys - I have never forgotten this. I even remember I was crying because I missed an episode... I hope the release will contain subtitles in different european languages, I know it was popular in the Scandinavian countries too, and I would love to show this to my kids :-)
shareThe latest date is (tentatively) April 30. They're currently editing. Since there are extras (mainly new interviews, from what I've heard), it's taking a little longer than the German release, which was barebones.

Thanks!! I love the theme song...
my sister went up to Ian when they were on "the Commish" set (a TV show shot in Vancouver) and said that "my sister loved you in Huckleberry Finn" and his reply was "oh, that was a long time ago!!"
Just had it confirmed by sendit.com that the official release of all 26 episodes on DVD in the UK will be on 30th April.

According to Amazon UK it will be released on 30th April. On another site is says 30th May. Which is correct?
shareApril 18th 07
I have emailed the company releasing this set, but they have yet to respond.
If and when they do, I will post news.
I received a email from the company too, from Richard Walker. He said they interviewed Ian, Sammy, Blu and Alex and made a 30 minute making of doc which will be included on the DVD set.
shareWhat are the chances for a Region 1 release? Any? Maybe?
I have my old VHS ones on DVD, but they're not very good after almost 30 years of wear and tear and I'd love to see the extras!
The chances are good, I guess, as it has a planned release date of June 16th. Some bonus features will be included.
