I saw much if not all of this series in the early 1980s on Showtime, but hadn't seen any of it since, until finding a YouTube clip a few minutes ago. However, the Showtime series lasted only about seven episodes, which were about 75 minutes. I guess Showtime simply put the episodes together in clusters of three or four. Anyway, now being 43 and an actor, I still think for as low budget as it is, it's very good.
shareI saw it on Showtime in the early 1980s as well. Showtime called it Mark Twain Theater. We didn't have a VCR yet, so I recorded all the episodes using my audio cassette tape recorder next to the TV speaker. I loved that series and was sad when it came to an end. I still have the audio cassette tapes in a case somewhere, but haven't seen the series since back then. I'd love a DVD release!
shareI'm glad I'm not the only one who saw it on Showtime. And I actually audio recorded several movies and TV show episodes, though not this one. And I have great news for you! It's on DVD, and with several bonus materials! It turns out that the series has a solid cult following.
