Residuals

I've recently bought this on DVD and one thing that strikes me is that when this was repeated endlessly on the BBC in the 80s, were the stars paid for all these showings or paid just a one off fee for making it?

They'd have made a tidy sum if they were paid residuals and for DVD rights etc.
