This was a good show

Yes, this was a good show.

I was in Junior High when this show was on. I had always been a big MASH fan, as was my whole family. Of course, we had to tune in to the show that our beloved Colonel Blake had gone to. It was kinda fresh...single dad raising two teenage daughters...the father being a radio host. Mclean Stevenson was a great television actor, this show included.

The real reason I watched this show regularly, however, was Ruthie!! Kim Richards was my crush at the time...I was in Jr. High remember. All of the boys in my grade had it pretty bad for her. And we had grown up with her...Nanny and the Prof...Witch Mountain...she had done so much...and here she was, our age and looking like that. hehe.

So...when I hear the show Hello Larry, I immediately think of Ruthie and that wonderful boyhood crush I had on her.

Kim Richards.
recall the episode when Larry came home and "caught" her starting to make out on the couch with some boy? He was so close.!

Acussed here of being a 12YO or an 8YO, as if either of those were bad things!

I was a 'Hello, Larry' viewer in 1979 and 1980, and I never understood why some people, then and now, act like this is one of the worst shows of all time. No, it's not perfect. I thought was a decent but not spectacular sitcom -- typical of sitcoms of that era. In other words, it's no where close to being one of the worst sitcoms of all time.
I can name dozens of sitcoms that are worse. Critics were gunning for this show, and everything airing on the Fred Silverman-led NBC. And McLean Stevenson's parade of failed sitcoms made 'Hello, Larry' a nice punchline. But worst sitcom ever? Not even close.

And I fully endorse the general consensus that Kim Richards was hot.

It's TV Guide and their damn lists, they're usually just stereotypical and accusing something that didn't do too well in ratings of being shoddy. AfterM*A*S*H was a great show, but thanks to ratings it ended half way through it's second season and now it's been labeled as 'the worst spin-off of all time', when at times it was as good as M*A*S*H (not often, but sometimes). Helo, Lary was probably the same way. Maybe the fact that McLean Stevenson got, well, McLean'd from M*A*S*H and did some other sit-coms that didn't work forced it's most famous one into being credited as sh!t.

I can't believe there are people who liked this show...even as a kid, I found it impossibly awful(besides Kim Richards, who wore enough lip-gloss to lubricate the Chrysler Building).
