If they just *had to* add to the cast...

Instead of new people, what past characters would you like to have seen come back as regulars, or semi-regulars?

I would like to have seen Boots drop in once in a while.

And maybe one of the girls from the first season, like Sue Ann

reply

I would have liked to learn whatever happened to Blair's sister or step-sister who was on her way to becoming a nun. It would have been interesting to see her come for one or several visits.

reply

Yeah, she could have talked about how she abused children she taught in the Catholic schools and getting away with it because she's a nun.

reply

You have quite a sense of humor!

reply

What about Mrs Garrett's son?? he was going to be a carpenter why couldn't he have rebuilt the shop??

reply

I forgot about him! Didn't she have two sons?

reply

He would have been a neat addition--he was 'family' so he wouldn't have done anything bad w the girls. but they still could have teased him. And yes he already proved he did know how to work re carpentry.

reply

Then again, why not have him hook up with one of the girls? That could have been interesting.

reply

I went to catholic school... no one touched me. Not all members of the clergy are/were like that. Having said that a lot of them (sadly) are.

reply

Actually, first-hand experience as the abused child. And seeing the nun get away with it because (big surprise coming) the church covered it up.

reply

That is very sad indeed!

reply

Even sadder when I think how brain-washed my mother is by that church. She actually went along with the cover-up, not wanting to "make the church look bad if we let it be known".

reply

My heart truly goes out to you my friend!

reply

It's the past.

I just cannot understand why if any adult did the same things (example, making a fist and punching the child in the back) to a child, it would rightfully be called child abuse. But a nun does it, nobody wants to call it what it is.

reply

I guess you could call that a double standard. Very unfair indeed!

reply

I didn't like when they completely changed the storyline and added Joe. I missed the first season with all the girls like Sue Ann, Cindy, Molly and Nancy. Those episodes were better.....

reply

PAMELA ADLON

reply

I AGREE

reply

Sue Ann appeared in a few episodes in season 2 and a few of them in season 3 too....

reply

Okay they should have had the two Mr. Garrett's added to the cast.

both of the brothers were (coincidentally) a carpenter and an accountant......the accountant brother had also given her (and the girls) what was first Edna's Edibles and then later became over our heads.

Should have kept the two of them around to fix up things--like the store and the school when Blair bought it. having to find a contractor for cheap was absurd when they already knew one and who would be far more responsible.

Have the hunky carpenter go out with her I don't know if this was allowed back then re standards though.

This was supposed to be a sitcom and they may have not wanted to turn it into a soap with one of Mrs Garetts brothers dating the girls.

I think also they were trying to figure out how to promote responsible opposite sex interactions in the era of AIDS (remember there was no prep developed and a lot more people were dying of AIDS) so they made the contractor neighbor deliberately come from living in the Middle east--where dating mores/gender roles are traditionally super strict.

Both of the brothers had stayed in America so this is another reason probably why either brother could not be revived as characters.

But would have been interesting with them.
