The Old Shop or The New Shop?

On The Facts of Life, did you guys prefer the old shop or the new shop? I definitely prefer the new shop. I think the new shop was much brighter in color, had cool items, and definitely did more business.

The old shop looks more timeless and the new shop screams late 1980s--dating the series. But the new shop was something the girls had a hand in designing vs just being hired to work in. It was genuinely theirs.

Divided.

I liked both Edna’s Edibles and Over Our Heads.

From a shopper view, I definitely would have been more likely to shop at Over Our Heads. I think it would have been cool if they had that shop while they were still in high school.

Edna's Edibles didn't sound like it had any food I would want to eat.

For the series itself, I lost interest by the time the new shop opened and they started adding all the new characters.

Didn't think Edna's sister would be interested in the new store. Thought her son---again younger would have been better generational fit. He's the repair guy for the shop/house--and runs his own business mutually out of his room in the house.....explaining why he also lives there. The show just basically centers on the girl's perspective.

Or he could have been the head custodian/repair guy for Eastland while it gets back on it's feet. Hence 'Mr Garret' now works @ eastland!! And if we really wanted to confuse things the other son who was a banker also comes to help out. as the school accountant. Although he was not as cute.

Yes whole new direction for the sitcom--initially about girls. But viewers knew who they were already.
