Benson - Remaining Seasons - DVD Release Info

I received this back from Mill Creek when writing and asking if they plan on releasing a 'Complete Series' set of Benson on DVD.

Thank you for your interest in Mill Creek Entertainment and its line of products, especially our release of Benson. We appreciate it when customers take the time to contact us with their comments, questions and suggestions. The release of additional seasons will be done over time with plans for more seasons to be released sometime in 2015. Announcements regarding the additional season releases of Benson will be made on our website at the appropriate time. Please feel free to contact us with any additional suggestions or inquiries you may have.

So, with that in mind, I'd advise anyone who's interested... please write to Mill Creek and request this (and please request the uncut - not syndicated - versions of the episodes), as it appears they are thankfully open to suggestions.

They cut it for syndication? Why? It's been 15 years since I've seen it and just found out Family Net was starting to reshow it today. How would we know if it's cut?

reply

Original versions of Benson were around 25 min long.

Syndicated versions today will usually cut that down to around 21 min or less, sadly, to make room for (a lot) more commercials.

For Benson, the first thing 'lost' is almost always the sequence where they briefly 'return' from commercial after the main plot of the episode ends - right before the credits. That's usually the first cut made for syndication and it drives me crazy.

I know this sequence (in a way) is kind of racist....but I always found the part inthe season 1 opening credits, where Benson's running from the dogs into the mansion hilarious.

I'm guessing if Robert didn't have a problem with
it he wouldn't have done it. (Of course it wss taken out in season 2).

Go for it or just be a gopher!

Doom, that is great news that they plan to issue the remaining seasons, but too bad nothing came out in 2015. Hopefully this year.

I will send them a message as well.
