I just did a search on Amazon and EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 1, this miniseries will be finally released. Amazon has it as a 4 DVD set and the cost for their pre-order is $44.99. Hope this helps anyone. I plan on buying it IMMEDIATELY! I just pray they digitally remastered it. HA!
It is a little more expensive, but BEST BUY also has it on-line for $59.99 (you can not get it in the store). No matter where we get it, it is the best thing to buttered bread, we have had in a long time. Now if they do the same thing to "The Kent Family Chronicles--The Bastard series"(they have only the first two of the three part mini-series available on VHS)and "Centennial" (only VHS), it will help complete some of the good mini-series' that give us some idea, what are country was like in the 18th and 19th centuries (even with all the hob-gob of fiction.).
It's available from Netflix. I just finished Disc 2 from Netflix and I'm glad I'm renting instead of buying. As I detailed in another thread, time has not been kind to Backstairs at the White House.
OMG, I have been looking for this for some ten years!!! Always told it was out of print. You can't imagine my excitement (especially as a Social Srudies teaxhe when my friend just gave it to me tonight as a very late Christmas present. Now I need a few snow days to watch it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For all who are interested in the 1979 miniseries "Backstairs at the Whitehouse" is at Overstock.com for 38.84 & 2.95 for s/h,. Thought you'd like to know....
