When I was about 14, I got a letter from NBC, asking me to watch a particular ep of BJ about which they later called to get my opinion. The ep had very little BJ in it--it featured two of his friends in what I think was supposed to be a pilot for a hick Laverne & Shirley-type of spin-off. Does anyone know what ep I'm talking about and/or who those actresses were? My memory is expectedly vague because that was the only ep of BJ I'd ever watched, before or since.

Why NBC would go to the trouble of mailing a 14 year old,a letter to watch one episode of a TV series would be a mystery.Heck,magic car Knight Rider came on in 1982 and during the summer they hyped the show by comparing the K.I.T.T. to the General Lee,and they actually wanted you to mail THEM a self adressed stamped envelope to return the road comparison to you.NBC could have done a lot better in coverage if they just researched every pre 18 year old in the country and mailed out a postcard of KITT....similar to what you say NBC did with BJ....
They even charged $2.00 for you to call a recording of KITT's voice for season 3 to find out what near features KITT had that year.No,NBC sure wasnt shelling out any dough on their own,thats for sure.
