My Dad ,who is a truck driver, actually knew the guy who bought the truck that was used in the show... I don't know where the truck is right now but I do remember seeing the truck around and rember them talking aboutit being from the show

There may be only one left today, but there were at least two used to film the series. I saw both of them on a back lot during a "Universal Studio's Tour" as a child.

I used to work for the show. there were 6 of them, most were wrecked in stunts.
greg only ever drove 2 of them, I think. the others were backups and extras.
one had the interior torn up by one of the chimps, I forget thier real names and thier owner thou.

There is a gentleman by the name of Paul Sagehorn (you can find him on the BJ and the Bear fan site mentioned in an earier post) he owns one of the BJ rigs as well as one of the Movin On rigs, he travels around to Truckshows from time to time and displays them, recently he was at a show and Greg Evigan was there signing autographs...

reply

The truck is on tour around the U.S.

It was at the Iola Old Car Show last time I saw it. And also, Greg Evigan was there signing autographs. Very nice guy btw.

This guy Paul was on the show American Truckers. They showed him restoring the truck and then taking it back to the KW plant where it was built.

American Trucker is a 2011 television show on the Speed cable channel. Hosted by Robb Mariani, the pilot episode featured Robb helping another mechanic restore one of the classic 1980 Kenworth K-100 Aerodyne trucks used in the TV show BJ and the Bear.

reply

Mr. Sagehorn doesn't own any of the trucks. The one he has is a 1984 Kenworth K100 that is almost a replica to the original truck except for the refrigeration unit and some other modifications. The BJ AND THE BEAR fan club is still in existence because when MSN shut down their "groups", this group tried to move to Multiply and can be found there. Mr. Sagehorn's son has a website dedicated to the "BJ" truck and the "Movon' On" truck.

I have all three seasons of the show on DVD-R that I bought off of Sell.com a few years ago and they're GREAT!!!!!!

And, now that I know that the club is still in existence, I'm gonna go re-join it!

I hope that I have provided some useful information on this subject.

Take Care/God Bless,

Hello

I own the very first Bj Kenworth Aerodyne Used , its currently under restoration ,it has travelled 1.5 million miles , once it left the show it was a working truck right up until 2005 .
There's another one from the third season in Wi paul Sagehorn is the owner of that one and had just recently finished a restoration on it .

I am almost 100% sure that he drove two types of Kenworth K100's. The one in the pilot was a "flat" top cab over and then when the series premeired he had the aerodyne truck. I remember the low top because my dad had one very similar and then when the episodes started, he had the aerodyne model, I had never seen one like it before. Does anyone else remember two KW's?

reply

I saw one of them near Lacrosse, WI two years ago.

From what I've read, there were 3 of them used in the series - two of them are still around (and restored), the fate of the third one is unknown.

I read about the recovery of the second one a few years ago, in a TA Truck Stop magazine, and while reading, I asked myself "I wonder whatever happened to the "Movin' On" truck? Well, I turned the page, and the buyer of the BJ truck was using the Movin' On truck to haul it back to his home!!!

reply

there was actually 6 of them I know one of them was a 1978 which was the first rig bought for the series, it's owned Kraig Cummins you can see a post by him in this thread under his user name (Cummins57) he also owns the Black Peterbilt 379 Patrick Swayze drove in Black Dog http://images54.fotki.com/v242/photos/8/336108/9011511/286-vi.jpg

the 2 I know of were 1980's Vin #'s 288161 and 288162, Paul Sagehorn owns one of them (Vin #288162) besides that Paul owns the Green Kenworth W-900 Claude Akins drove in Movin' On, the other 1980 Vin #288161 is still out there today, although the current location on it is unknown, If you call in the vin #288161 it'll tell you it's one of the real trucks from the show and they were able to pin point by the vin number it still exist to this day

Thanks!

BTW - last year, that lucky bastard Paul, picked up the backup Peterbuilt and tanker, that were used in "Duel"!!!

Now, if the whereabouts of the Blue Mule were known........(I know where there's a tractor like it - but it's not one of the movie rigs...I don't think...)

reply

There was a cab that was just like this one used in the "One Minute" episode of Breaking Bad.
