I Met Bear The Monkey

It was back in the 1970s when this show was popular. He and his owner made a public appearance in downtown Calgary so a couple of my friends and I went to see him. We got his autograph (I kid you not!), but it was nothing more than a scribble. I've never forgotten that appearance. B.J. and The Bear was my favorite show when I was a kid.

The more I study it, the greater the puzzle becomes.

It was cool to read, decades ago, that Greg Evigan went to visit him occasionally after the show ended.Wonder if he remembered him (or remembered his smell).

That's awesome! But please note that Bear wasn't a monkey, he was an ape. A chimpanzee to be more precise. Chimpanzee is not in the monkey family.

Also his real name was Sam.

I'm so glad that Sam(Bear) didn't let fame go to his head.
