I lost it when Archie broke down, sitting on the bed, holding Edith's slipper.
The single tear, falling down Stephanie's cheek, was very effective...as I continued to cry even more.

I REALLY want to see this episode! I've only seen the scene where Archie breaks down on the E! True Hollywood Story, I wish I could find it!

They've only released season 1 on DVD, and this is the first episode of Season 2. You can, however, see it, albeit in bits and pieces, on Youtube. Do a search for "Archie Alone" or "Archie Bunker's Place, edith dies" and you should find it fairly easily.

The Archie Alone episodes can be viewed, in two or three parts, on Youtube. I just watched it a few weeks ago.
UPDATE : YouTube has removed all of them due to a request from the series owner for "copyright violoation". The only clip remaining is one with music over instead of the original audio. But yet, they refuse to release the remaining seasons of this show.

I found that 2 or 3-parter a couple of years ago....I watched ABP during its original run, but I had never seen this episode. I barely got through the whole thing--it was such a downer! At least they ended the ep on a semi-comedic note: with Archie glancing upwards "to" Edith, and lamenting on how she left him all alone to deal with " 'dese Joisey relatives!" :-)
