The Bunker House Turned Into A Dark Depressing Place

All the original cast from All In The Family were gone from Archie's house when Archie Bunker's Place materialized. I hadn't seen the show in years and years, but when I recently tuned into on YouTube, I realized how 'lonely' his house looked and seemed with just him and that little girl there.

As you watch, you just can't shake the feeling that "something's missing".

The more I study it, the greater the puzzle becomes.

Well, I think they used a different lighting at that point.

Well Edith was in a few episodes of the first season. And The Stivics did appear on an episode. But after that I can see what you mean.

They eventually did add a maid and Archie's niece a different character than Stephanie who was in her 20s or something. The show also was not really about All in The Family any more but Archie in general so the house was used a lot less and the bar set was used. At this point Archie was a lot more liberal even if he still would not admit it.

I think it changed its name because both Sally and Rob were both gone and Jean was not interested in being their either. She only made like 8 appearances. It would have been hard to keep the show going with just Archie.

Maybe if they had Irene come back it would have worked better but at the same time it just was no longer "All in the FAMILY" it was "All in the Archie" so changing the name did make sense.

Well see she was only on those 8 episodes, she didn't even appear in the pilot if I remember correctly. I think that everyone knew that she was leaving they just didn't know a good way to send her off.

I liked Stephanie but she was not really part of the original 4 that made All in the Family all that it was. And they did add an older niece as well as a house keeper to the cast in the Bunker house but again it was just so different than All in the Family.

It really had a different format somewhat lighter than All in the Family. It was more of a show that the whole family could watch compared to AITF. It still had its more dark moments of course though but, Archie really was no longer a bigot at this point. He was just a man from a different time who on occasion had a difference of opinion and was stubborn about it. Plus Gloria and Mike were divorced.

I agree. The house was so lively, especially during the early seasons of AITF until about the 5th season. You had the Stivics of course with constant house guests like Lionel and The rest of the Jeffersons and The Lorenzos .

I think it was up until season 5 the house seemed lively. The Stivics lived there as well as constant appearances by The Jeffersons and The Lorenzos.

Stephanie and Billie being there with Archie was nice though, if Stephanie's dad never dropped Stephanie off at the house, Archie would have been all alone after Edith died, that would have been really depressing.

So very true.
