New Blu-ray is NOT the cut previously available on VHS (SPOILERS)

...thankfully!

The spoiler-heavy 'flash-forwards' are gone.

Several scenes are extended, providing a bit more insight into the characters.

Music cues are not placed in such a melodramatic fashion as before.

The 'flash-forward' version's sole flashback (which didn't add that much to the plot, anyway, to be honest) is not included in this cut of the film.

Granted, this is not The Honor Guard version where, allegedly, Steiger kills Huffman's and Mattson's characters, though it does give Steiger's character a bit more closure during his final moments...but it's a hell of an improvement over the hackneyed edit of Wolf Lake that's been the only version available to the public for the past 36 years or so.

If you're a fan of this movie, as I've been since I first watched it on a broadcast of USA Network's Saturday Nightmares in 1988, this is the version to have.

Finally, those of us who tolerated the crappy-looking 'flash-forward' edit of the film, for what seems like an eternity, can toss those sub-par VHS tapes and DVD-Rs into the trash.

NOTE: The Blu-ray's packaging states the movie's running time as being 88 minutes. According to the time counter on my player, this version clocks in at 91 minutes.
