Abrupt ending

The ending of the movie, when Dorothy goes back home, seemed VERY rushed. I always wondered if there was a reason for this (cast member(s)ill, time restraints, etc.) If I remember, she clicked her heels, then you see her shoes in the snow, and starts running, then fade out.

Not a bad movie, but that ending just kind of ruined it.

I Loved It! If you had been paying attention to the story you would have realized there was nothing left to do. We are to assume she went back home as a new and stronger person. and we are to assume that she will never be the same scared person again. We get that from when she is talking to the Wizard just before singing HOME. I loved the ending with the beautiful musical score by the brilliant Quincy Jones as she eagerly runs into the house to start her new life as a risk taking stronger individual.

Yea I kind of see what you mean, but I think it would have been better to have a little dialog between Dorothy & family. I've seen The Wiz at least 5 times and it leaves me the same way each time.

I think it feels rushed as the wizard never attempts or tries to take her home in the hot air balloon. If he had it would feel just right.

But that would've made the movie even longer. It ended just right.

Thought so too... am I remembering wrong, wasn't she supposed to recognize the characters in her adventure in her relatives when she got back.
