One of Nolte's Best

I've read the novel DOG SOLDIERS on which this based and it is an excellent adapatation and is one of Nick Notle's best films. Great performances from the entire cast.

I totally agree Nick Nolte's superb acting in Who'll Stop the Rain. I have only two items to critique: first, director should have left some scenes on the cutting room floor, I.e, film is to too long. Needs to be more crisp and a goal is 1 1/2 hours, not over 2. And, the implied subplot with the wife worked effectively with Alan Ladd in Shane, but not so well in this movie.

I was surprised to learn that he never got nominated for this movie. It's one of his best performances and he pretty much carries the movie.

some great nolte in this one for sure.

Agreed.

This movie is an underrated masterpiece.

Don't know why. Nolte played against type here as he was a romantic lead prior to this movie when his persona switched to "tough guy"
