Is this not RIPE for a remake?


I will always love this original. One of my favorites.
I watched this incessantly as a kid.

But I think a remake now would make a lot of sense. And any of those roles, with careful consideration, could be recast.

With the exception of Mr. Morley. His role was impeccable and irreplaceable and I can't think of a single actor I'd put in his place.

i don't think a remake would make sense because remakes have a tendency to crash and burn. it takes a lot of money and an exceptional director to pull it off.
however...
lets indulge the hypothetical...
george segal - james franco, ryan reynolds
jackie bisset - angelina jolie
robert morley - sir john geigud (not sure if he's still alive, but as you say, robert is irreplaceable and we may have to call upon the services of deceased actors
