Did you ever watch the film as a kid, but then found it ?? years later?

I first saw the film when I was 6. I loved the songs. (Truth be told, I loved the actor who played Tom. I'm like the next Terrance, ha ha.) Now, at 32, I was browsing at my local library a few weeks back, and I found a copy of the DVD. I bought it, and immediately went home and showed it to my kids. I loved seeing it again. I still remembered the songs. My kids loved it as well.

Yes!! I LOVED this movie as a kid and was so excited to find it years later. I saw it in 1982 (I was 4) on TV and had a crush on Tom (but only as a cartoon character--how weird is that?). I kept my eye out for it growing up, but never had any luck. When I saw it on VHS I snatched it up, and then again when it was released on DVD. I have yet to convince my husband to watch it with me, but he will...someday. LOL!

I remember watching it as a kid(4 or 5 yrs old), and the only parts i remembered was a boy falling into the water and turning into a cartoon, then learning to swim with frogs, and getting back home with the ice and penguins. that's all i had to work with in order to get the movie into my hands again at 29 yrs old.
yahoo answers solved the mystery for me :-) i was glad to see it again, as cheesy as it is, and now my daughter (2 yrs old) loves it.

I saw it this evening for the first time in probably 15 years or more. It used to be shown annually around Christmas on the BBC. It will always be special to me because it reminds me so much of my childhood. It is sad this has such a low rating on IMDB. I think those who score this low probably do so because it does not have the brilliance of animation that a Disney or Pixar has but the fact is this was a low budget film made in 1978. When I first saw this in the 1980's we only had BBC1, BBC2, ITV and Channel 4. Sky TV was only a vision, so choice was limited. Anyone who saw this film years ago and can still criticise it must have had a deprived upbringing.

Well, My wife found while browsing for a bday present for me. I was very happy cause I couldn't find it ever. She and I watched it. She thought it was bad but noticed that the Lion King had a similar version of the High cockalorum( not sure of spelling) song. It though, brought back many wonderful memories of my childhood. watching on nickelodeon way back. By today's standards its questionable for kids but I still will show mine.

It's now available for streaming on Netflix, and I watched it last night for the first since I was five years old (I'm 35 now.).

I seriously hated it. Had such fond memories from when I was a child, but it does not stand up for me, today.

I was surprised though, at how not-scary the old lady was. I saw the movie two or three times by the time I was five and she scared the daylights out of me. After seeing it the first time, I braced for it each time afterwards. Yet, I'm surprised she scared me so much.
