Was Chong supposed to be a teenager in this movie?

Judging by the rant by his dad about the Finkelstein boy and military school, I would say it was an intentional attempt to make it seem that way.

Anywho, nothing serious, but a 40 yr old playing a teen is pretty funny when it comes to this.

I get the impression he's an extremely immature 30+ year old uberslacker, probably where Will Ferrell ripped off the idea for Step Brothers.

reply

I just thought it was pretty funny idea to ship a 30+ yr old guy off to a military school with a bunch of teens.

reply

College dropout, seemed to me. But yeah, "military school" college? I had the same "conversation" with my dad around 20, minus the part about the gawdam Finklestien shxt kid.

reply

Meanwhile in real life, the military college would probably chuck the application out the window.
As full of discipline as they are, VMI, The Citadel, and the armed forces academies are usually looking for people who were straight from the get-go.

I like the idea of him being early 30's.

I took it more as just being funny that his dad is threatening to send him to military school as though he were a teen even though he's clearly middle aged.

I wouldn't go literal. I think C&C put the scene in there as one familiar to their target audience!

reply

You could pick strawberries, you know, bend and stoop! Do that for a while, and you could graduate up to those goddamn bananas...

Hey Whitey! Where's your hat?

reply

It's probably been mentioned before on this board, but a lot of these scenes were based on C & C's comedy records. The angry dad carping about military school "worked better" on vinyl than on film. Still hilarious.
