Did anyone notice....

In the scene in the gallery when Erica and Saul meet for the first time... there is a woman standing in back of Erica watching them and listening to their conversation. I wonder if that was part of a story line that was dropped from the script... Maybe another woman interested in Saul... or maybe Martin's mistress wanting to confront Erica about something. It was obviously someone off the street and not a gallery employee because she was wearing a coat and hat.
It was very strange that they would have an extra standing there like that.

Yes, just watching it last night is when I noticed that for the first time! It looks like Kelly Bishop, or maybe Linda Miller who play her friends Elaine and Jeanette. Since she's so obviously framed within the shot, and is listening to Erica and Saul, I'd guess the scene originally ran a little longer, with whichever friend it was giving Erica her opinion on this new man, and then the director simply 'topped and tailed' it for concision.

There was a scene that was removed where Martin's mistress confronts Erica to talk about Martin, and Erica basically tells her, "I can't help you." Perhaps this is where that scene was supposed to be. Paul Mazursky said he dropped the scene because the actress playing the mistress wasn't good enough.
