Cannibal Holocaust is better

I just acquired Jungle Holocaust and I must say that it is pretty good. However, I bought the Grindhouse version of Cannibal Holocaust a month or so before I purchased JH and I must say that CH is much better. CH has a much better story, it is shot better, and it has a greater feeling of depravity and despair. I loved how in CH that the documentary filmmakers got there just desserts and in some senses it taught us something about ourselves. CH was much more gruesome which only served to prove its point. JH, while I enjoyed it very much, just seemed to be a traditional survial/horror film. JH does teach us certain lessons but the impact of CH was much stronger IMO.

You should never ever doubt that which no one is sure about.

Of coruse Cannibal holocaust is going to be better. The Director of jungle holocaust had a bigger budget with cannibal holocaust. It was the same director and he had a better idea of where he was going with CH rather then JH. Most directors fall short on there first films

I know they have the same director and the fact that CH had a bigger budget than JH is apparent, I was just giving my two cents on the movies. CH, even if it hadn't had a bigger budge, was still just a more concise and gripping vision of Deodato.

Cannibal Holocaust is definetly the better one. They're both pretty exploitative and depraved, but CH really achieves in making people sit up and question a variety of things, it's controversy is essential and it wakes people up a bit.
It really hits hard, whereas Jungle Holocaust succeeds in being little more than an exploitative film with a few points along the way, it's a more passive film, despite being quite gruesome.

JUNGLE HOLOCAUST (or as I call it, LAST CANNIBAL WORLD, because that's a better title) is a lot easier to watch...

CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST is more professionally made, better-acted, and much harder-hitting, but it's a shocker and an attack on the media.

JUNGLE is more of a bleak Robinson Crusoe-esque survival fantasy.

Both are very good films for what they are; rough edged exploitation. Not something to show your girlfriend or even have on with the window blinds up... but successful in what they set out to achieve.

Important to consider is that people compare two films by the particular versions that they saw, and they often do not know which versions they saw. "Uncut" versions are sometimes cut versions. A cut version may greatly degrade the film. I much preferred the Last Cannibal World, but maybe I saw the "wrong" version of Cannibal Holocaust.
