Question about the rape scene?
Why the hell would that girl get him food after he raped her?
shareBecause in her tribe the men took their women, or claimed them by raping them, and so to her he is like any man in her tribe, and she brings him food, because she now has a man and needs to look after him.
It sounds brutal but its a common practise still in many native tribes, and the director Deodato, a genius, did it for realism and filmed the rape scene in a realistic way, unlike in some other exploitative cannibai films like Ferox etc.

for teh lulz
I felt pretty bad for her. It's awful what her own tribe did to her, as if she left on purpose. I cannot believe I saw this movie, when I was little. Videos were scarce and I did not know what I was about to watch. LOL

Important to consider that rape may be acceptable in some primitive societies even by women, just like slavery. By acceptable, not that they like it, but it may be the only way they know. Often people take values in their own society and apply them to others. By way of example I once saw a western from an Islamic country set in the American southwest. The hero's wife was raped as he was forced to watch. So at his first opportunity he very reluctantly puts a bullet in his wife's head and then takes revenge, which includes raping and killing the bad guy's two daughters, whose only "guilt" was being the bad guy's children.

She had already kind of chosen him. She was waiting for him to make a move, and women like a guy who can take charge. Afterwards she is his wife
