Why did the psychiatrist suggest destroying the dress? Wouldn't that have traumatized Jennie and made matters worse? Would a real life psychiatrist advise that as a solution?

Not sure what a psychiatrist today would say, but I took it as the dress was creating a fantasy life which might lead to her becoming completely mentally unhinged and unable to function in the present.

I thought it was a stupid suggestion. For all she knew, Jennie could have been able to transport herself back by other means, after all she didn't know if there were other Pamela props at the mans. (or in the museum for that matter).
