Brad Crane and Captain Crane

Brad Crane was not a character in the original "Swarm" novel. I suspect producer/director Irwin Allen used the name "Crane" as an in-joke since his "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" movie and series featured the main character of Captain Lee Crane.
