why lex failed

I just realized it was Otis who caused Lex's downfall, not Miss Teschmacher. If Otis hadn't fudged the code for one of the missiles, it would've headed towards the intended target, not Hackensack, New Jersey, where Miss Teschmacher's mom lived. Then Miss Teschmacher would've been less inclined to save Superman. So it was all Otis's fault!

reply

Didn't Teschmaker fix the mistake?

reply

Ah ok. I stand corrected. I thought she programmed the other missile. I always thought Hackensack was a mistake because why that city of all east coast cities? Then it really was Lex's fault.

His plan was rather stupid though. He plans to nuke California and cause it to fall in the ocean. And to also nuke New Jersey. Then buy off all the land that remains of California and turn it into a bunch of towns. What makes him think that nobody would find it a big coincidence that right after it's nuked, a man just happens to buy it? Plus he is wanted by authorities as we see at the beginning. They'd have caught him eventually and he would be put to death for all his crimes whether Superman was around or not. Even if Tessmocker didn't interfered and he killed Superman, the authorities would have caught him sooner or later and he'd be put to death.

reply

Yeah. I'm pretty sure after a tragedy like that, they'd be looking into every angle. Some dude buying up all this desert land right along the faultline would raise some suspicions.

The leader is always responsible. What kind of evil genius hires a nincompoop like Otis anyway? Get some competent henchmen.

It's so hard to get good help these days.

reply

This is why I prefer the Batman TV series with Adam West. The villains on the show always were well prepared with very menacing henchmen who posed a serious threat and Lex here has a stooge as a henchman
